Future Arc has come out in full force now, and oh boy is it good! Great Gozu is great, the rules have been laid down, and deaths are happening at an honestly alarming pace. It’s really good, and I am actually enjoying myself, as opposed to last week where I mostly liked it all because it was finally happening. More words at The Fandom Post.

Woah! A new sports anime is out and I like it?  Stop the presses!

But really, Battery is quite special so far. It doesn’t really have a “hook” but it also doesn’t really need one – the strength of the drama alone already has me invested. My only real gripe is that the animation doesn’t rise too far above servicable, but honestly so far it doesn’t even need that, so I barely count it. I have more to say about this episode at The Fandom Post if you care, but really you should just go watch the show yourself.

The best Dangan Ronpa cast is back, and oh boy are they still the best. This episode is largely full of fluffy fun, but some small more intimate moments and the fact that we’ve seen the future makes it all work on two very different levels. This episode even makes the previous one retroactively better, since we now know more about a handful of the Future Foundation characters introduced there, and I’m hoping that is a sign of how things will generally play out for the rest of the season. I have more words at The Fandom Post, and I’m looking forward to next week more than ever.

Danganronpa is finally back for one last go at the Hope’s Peak Academy story, apparently, and I couldn’t be happier. I wrote back when this was first announced about how wary yet optimistic I was about the final story being told exclusively through an anime. More things have obviously been announced since then – specifically, the fact that there are actually two concurrent anime – but the general set of fears mostly stays the same. This first episode doesn’t tell us how different or similar the story telling style will be now that it is not a visual novel, but I did mostly like what I saw here. In fact, I have even more words about that over at The Fandom Post, if that interests you, and I’ll be seeing you for more killing game fun on Thursday with the Despair Arc.

Anime Review: Medaka Box July 13, 2016

Back in June I wrote up a review for Sentai Filmworks’ complete collection of Medaka Box. At this point this review is a fair bit old, but I kept forgetting to post it here. Overall, Medaka Box is only a tame introduction to the great stuff the manga eventually has in store, but it’s still a pretty decent time, and I didn’t at all mind watching it again. Check out my full thoughts over at The Fandom Post.

New to this? Here’s the intro.
Last week: Week 4

This post is very late, for very specific reasons. That is, if you follow the drama on-site at the Fantasy Anime League club on My Anime List, you’d know that the results were posted a couple days late thanks to some confusion surrounding Space Patrol Luluco’s streaming locations (relevant to this week’s scores). Those were also the days I had off. It was going to be a really on-time post, yet fate had other plans. But there are still things here!

New to this? Here’s the intro.
Last week: Week 2

The first drop week brings another upset, with a certain player moving up above two others. Others find themselves gasping for air as their teams quickly run out of steam, and still others find aces in the hole continuing to shine ever brighter. I don’t know why this is getting so flowery, so I’m gonna shut up now and move on to the actual content here.

Last week: Week 2

Some ranks are shaken up this week, and the volatility of it all is exciting. This is honestly one of the most fun seasons of Fantasy Anime League we’ve played, and definitely the most potentially interesting one since we started recording them here – while our relative places are clear, just about no one is safe, as shows continue to grow and change and different stats have heavy impacts on different weeks. We even have someone in first who has never been there before!

Last week: Week 1

This week’s post is uh, a little late. Again! Won’t be next time, I promise. Gotta get back in the groove of doing these. On the plus side, most of the players commenting didn’t send me their thoughts until today either, so you get some more thoughts from others than you might have otherwise, which is great because no one needs to read me ramble.

All right, on to the rambling then.

New to this? Here’s the intro.

The first week of Fantasy Anime League has come. This is (basically) the one-year anniversary of me making these posts, too, which is pretty neat. I don’t even remember why I started doing them, but it’s a pretty relaxing way to spend time, so I don’t regret it. The best part is getting to expand my library of screencaps with useful lines. It’s like watching my weekly anime with two brains that have entirely different goals.

OK, I’ll stop. Time for numbers.
