New to this? Here’s the intro.

Next Week (Week 2)

Well, a week has passed, and with it comes the results of the first week of Spring 2015 Fantasy Anime League! This week, the only points accumulated are 1 point for each user watching each show on an active team, so the point breakdowns aren’t too complicated just yet.

Historically, the results of the first couple weeks don’t mean too much in the long term, and at least among the group here placing first in this week guarantees that you will not win the whole thing for some reason. Will the tradition continue this go-around? We’ll find out in a few months time, but for now let’s take a look at how our draft teams are doing relative to each other.

Let's go!

Let’s go!

Overall ranks Week 1:

  1. 33   (–) lostpikachu – 92038
  2. 139 (–) joyfullydoomed – 74034
  3. 158 (–) NavyCherub – 69529
  4. 177 (–) Aikijou – 67655
  5. 313 (–) aeg2138 – 44397
  6. 343 (–) Hamdog92 – 38978
  7. 361 (–) NeoRevan – 33899

Individual results:

Team: lostpikachu
Rank: 33
All points: 92038
Ace: Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka (3000)
Week 1 watching points:
-----------------------
Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka
- Watching: 21725
Nagato Yuki-chan no Shoushitsu
- Watching: 6495
Owari no Seraph
- Watching: 20087
Shokugeki no Souma
- Watching: 19847
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku
- Watching: 20884
=> 89038

Blackpack kid, or lostpikachu as he is known on My Anime List, pulled ahead of our little pack. Not only did he place in the top 50 overall, he was the only one of us to place in the top 100 at all. It is easy to see why: all of his shows aired in the first week, even Nagato Yuki-chan no Shoushitsu which aired late so it didn’t pull in huge numbers, but it aired nonetheless. He also happens to have the show that had the best run in week 1, DanMachi, which allowed him to pull a proper Ace out right away. This is a particularly good one, too – he has three other shows that can easily be seen to eventually surpass DanMachi, so this is probably the only week it had the chance to be his Ace anyway. Great showing.

Team: joyfullydoomed
Rank: 139
All points: 74034
Week 1 watching points:
-----------------------
Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken 2 Sure-me
- Watching: 11371
Diamond no Ace: Second Season
- Watching: 207
Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka
- Watching: 21725
Shokugeki no Souma
- Watching: 19847
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku
- Watching: 20884
=> 74034

joyfullydoomed, or here known as culley711, had a similarly good week, essentially only down one show; Diamond no Ace didn’t actually come out as far as I know, but he still acquired a negligible amount of points from a couple hundred people who jumped the gun a bit. No ace declared, though, which is bad because just as I said right above, this might just be the only week DanMachi would have been a probable Ace in the face of big shows like Shokugeki no Souma and OreGairu Zoku.

regret

And so did a few of us.

Team: NavyCherub
Rank: 156
All points: 69529
Week 1 watching points:
-----------------------
Arslan Senki (TV)
- Watching: 7065
Hibike! Euphonium
- Watching: 1646
Owari no Seraph
- Watching: 20087
Shokugeki no Souma
- Watching: 19847
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku
- Watching: 20884
=> 69529

I don’t know who those 1646 people who decided they are already watching Hibike! Euphonium are, but I am certainly not complaining. Arslan Senki also picked up a good number of people for having aired at the very last moment, with the simulcast starting on Funimation the very Sunday that the FAL week ended. Everything else performed as expected. It should be noted I really should have Ace’d OreGairu Zoku, but I have a feeling this won’t be my last chance to do that, unless Owari no Seraph catches up, which is very well possible. I’m pretty happy with this start.

Team: Aikijou
Rank: 177
All points: 67655
Week 1 watching points:
-----------------------
Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken 2 Sure-me
- Watching: 11371
Gunslinger Stratos: The Animation
- Watching: 8360
Kekkai Sensen
- Watching: 6953
Owari no Seraph
- Watching: 20087
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku
- Watching: 20884
=> 67655

Aikijou here is sort of in the same situation I am as far as the OreGairu Zoku Ace goes – having not done it this week, we risk Owari no Seraph specifically catching up. Heck, it already almost is in these stats – just less than an 800 watcher difference is almost nothing! Those shows are really proving to do work though, as Gunslinger Stratos had a disappointing opening week and Kekkai Sensen is suffering a lot from Funimation holding its simulcast hostage. The real potential for Kekkai Sensen is surely yet to be seen.

I have faith in Rie Matsumoto.

Team: aeg2138
Rank: 313
All points: 44397
Ace: Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku (3000)
Week 1 watching points:
-----------------------
Arslan Senki (TV)
- Watching: 7065
Kekkai Sensen
- Watching: 6953
Nagato Yuki-chan no Shoushitsu
- Watching: 6495
Punchline
- Watching: 0
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku
- Watching: 20884
=> 41397

Clearly smarter than Aikijou and I, aeg2139 actually saw the OreGairu Zoku Ace potential and snapped it right up. The first week around, though, he is missing getting points at all from Punchline, though that is to be expected since noitaminA shows never air the first week around. With that, the late-start Nagato Yuki-chan no Shoushitsu/Arslan Senki, and the dangling legal streaming of Kekkai Sensen, this team may not have done great in the first week but there is plenty of potential lying in wait to explode later. That, and his next Ace – that being when OreGairu Zoku reaches 40k watchers – is totally up in the air because of that potential, too.

Team: Hamdog92
Rank: 343
All points: 38978
Ace: Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku (3000)
Week 1 watching points:
-----------------------
Hibike! Euphonium
- Watching: 1646
Kekkai Sensen
- Watching: 6953
Nagato Yuki-chan no Shoushitsu
- Watching: 6495
Ore Monogatari!!
- Watching: 0
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku
- Watching: 20884
=> 35978

Nearing the end of the ranks, Hamdog92 at least remembered to Ace OreGairu Zoku. Aside from that, nothing on his team really picked up steam. To be fair, everything else has had similar problems that the other lower ranked players had – airing late, not being simulcasted, not airing at all, the whole family is there.

Team: NeoRevan
Rank: 361
All points: 33899
Ace: Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken 2 Sure-me (3000)
Week 1 watching points:
-----------------------
Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken 2 Sure-me
- Watching: 11371
Denpa Kyoushi (TV)
- Watching: 6728
High School DxD BorN
- Watching: 10799
Ore Monogatari!!
- Watching: 0
Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo (TV)
- Watching: 2001
=> 30899

Being the only person among us to not have OreGairu Zoku on his team, NeoRevan found himself without any big hits during the first week. Even Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken 2 Sure-me, which did very well during the last Fantasy Anime League, has found itself in a rough place; it is only a couple users away from being a double-point show, but until that happens it is only doing half of what the big hitters are doing right now. It still managed to work as an early Ace here, though, in large part thanks to Funimation not quite yet releasing High School DxD BorN for streaming, which seems like the show most likely to pull ahead for Ace potential. Hopefully for NeoRevan, his DxD gamble and his two shows that have not actually aired yet prove themselves to be worth their spots on his team.

And that is it for this week. Next week, we will have points coming from not only the Watching numbers, but also a nice 25 points per discussion post that has happened between last week and this one. Until then, may your hunger for anime never be satisfied.
