New to this? Here’s the intro.
Last week: Week 6

This week Haikyuu!! Second Season was actually ace-able over Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry. It was only by a very small margin, so it is understandable that most people didn’t notice until it was too late, but it speaks to how the game has evolved since the beginning. Having a high watch count isn’t enough anymore – really successful shows are pulling in huge numbers from other sources, too, most notably for this week, score. It is likely that Haikyuu!! Second Season will still be eligible to be aced sometime in the near future for those who missed it, but it represents something a little more than those 3000 points, anyway. Let’s look at those numbers and learn.

lostpikachu says:

The ship has sailed on Comet Lucifer, I finally swapped out for Owarimonogatari, and the move worked! I aced Haikyuu with 3 minutes to spare and it was super risky and scary but it paid out, which was a huge relief. I’m technically in second place and I may drop in a few weeks if Haikyuu is Ace-able again for those who didn’t ace it this week, but I have big plans for the future. Gotta keep going!

It was a very good week for lostpikachu, who has finally been able to justify dropping the potentially disastrous family raising anime Comet Lucifer. With that swap, lostpikachu’s team consists of this week’s top five anime. Also, as he said, his ace of eternal training arc anime Haikyuu!! Second Season came seemingly out of nowhere but makes sense in retrospect, as the score points for that show are ridiculous, having easily the highest average score of any eligible anime right now.

- Score (7.61): 45660
Subete ga F ni Naru: The Perfect Insider
- Score (7.39): 44340
=> 232260

On my part, the gamble of playhouse anime Subete ga F ni Naru: The Perfect Insider didn’t work out exactly as planned, though the overall gap between Owarimonogatari and The Perfect Insider during the past few weeks is not insurmountably high; Owarimonogatari beats out The Perfect Insider by score, and to a smaller extent favorites, but the balance is potentially evened out elsewhere. I have one more regular swap left, so if it comes to it I could just swap in Owarimonogatari whenever I need to, but I would like to not have to any time soon.

Sestrel has been falling for a while, but her team is steady overall – it isn’t optimal by any stretch of the imagination, but it is enough to keep her near the top of our own personal rankings. It isn’t anything guaranteed – we still have half of the season to go through, after all – but she doesn’t have anything to worry about in the near future at least. Not that there is anything she can do if there was danger, but at the very least there is a weapon here that NeoRevan does not actually have access to: a potential Haikyuu!! Second Season ace. It’s a long road still ahead.

NeoRevan says:

So, this is most likely the most important week, for me having finally passed Aeg…and yet, I have almost nothing to add. The forecast in our groups says that Aeg is unlikely to get as close to me again, and without Lolis dragging her down, I doubt I will be able to make up ground against Sestral. But even so, Fourth Place is a decent placing, though Third would be better.
Oh, and once again, watch Heavy Object if you haven’t already. Its about to really hit its stride and get real good. And whats not to love about a Buddy Cop style War series.

And, indeed, NeoRevan is also in a good position but his lack of Haikyuu!! Second Season has managed to become an even larger problem. He has passed aeg2138 – neither of them have Haikyuu!! – and made a significant 10000 more points than aeg2138 this week, but he is still lagging just slightly behind Sestrel. As a reverse of the above sentiment, there is still half a season left for a potential comeback, but those score weeks will only continue to make that prospect less likely.

aeg2138 has been taken down by NeoRevan, as was predicted for the past few weeks. That has past, but problems haven’t quite ended for him, either; Guycot, who had previously not seemed a threat, has made more points this week than aeg2138 did. If this growth continues, it seems likely that Guycot would eventually take aeg2138’s place, causing him to fall yet again. The main issue here seems to be Comet Lucifer‘s abysmal average score, because otherwise aeg2138’s team is more solid than Guycot’s.

Taimadou Gakuen 35 Shiken Shoutai
- Score (7.16): 42960
=> 229440

Child homicide anime Taimadou Gakuen 35 Shiken Shoutai has carved out a decent place for itself recently, finding itself just below The Perfect Insider and above previous heavy hitters such as Comet Lucifer and Heavy Object. As he inches his way toward aeg2138, this may very well be the key that allows for such growth. It is, after all, the only real difference between their teams, and Comet Lucifer isn’t feeling too good these days.

The same would almost be said for Hamdog92, but without CG armor anime Owarimonogatari or even second place anime Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry, life at the bottom seems to be his destined situation. In searching for a potential light at the end of the tunnel, I can only turn to moe titan anime Shingeki! Kyojin Chuugakkou, which may get more discussion and perhaps viewers as it re-airs in broadcast dub form; it didn’t do that much worse than Comet Lucifer this week, after all.

That wraps things up once again. Next week we get the best of both worlds: lost points for the haters, and gained points from the fanatics. More specifically:

  • −6 points for each user who has anime under “Dropped” upon week 8.
  • +50 points for each user who has favorited the anime upon week 8.

In other words, roughly every 9 drops cancels out every 1 favorite. It will be interesting to see which shows end up profiting, and which, if any, end up with a net loss between these two factors. Till then, good luck.
