New to this? Here’s the intro.
Last week: Week 8

It’s a rather unexciting week of Fantasy Anime League, as the only source of points is the relatively steady and unsurprising watching numbers. Wildcards are now eligible to be used, but it is a bit too early for most people to justify using them – a nuke now doesn’t guarantee much in the long term, a boost is consistent the whole season and probably shouldn’t be used until the very end when you know you will not have to use any of the other choices, and so on. Still, this is my weekly ritual, so I’m going to talk about it anyway.

Overall ranks Week 9:

  1. 11 (–) lostpikachu – 2031497
  2. 41 (-1) NavyCherub – 2012084
  3. 66 (-5) Sestrel – 1974066
  4. 90 (-1) NeoRevan – 1917385
  5. 109 (-5) aeg2138 – 1886628
  6. 123 (+2) Guycot – 1866067
  7. 155 (+2) Hamdog92 – 179613
  8. 336 (-1) Aikijou – 1326021

Individual ranks:

Team: lostpikachu
New points: 200142
All points: 2031497
Week 9 watching points:
-----------------------
Gakusen Toshi Asterisk
- Watching: 45659
Haikyuu!! Second Season
- Watching: 41365
Owarimonogatari
- Watching: 27886
Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry
- Watching: 47741
Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru
- Watching: 37491
=> 200142

lostpikachu says:

Well I didn’t move at all, but the ever-present scare of nukes is consistently a threat for my fight to the top. The people above and below me have my team so there isn’t much I can do until we get to the later weeks and I can potentially enact a hare-brained scheme. Until then!

Nukes exist, sure, but lostpikachu is in a very specifically safe spot. He is the only person in his place (11th), and the places above and below him (2nd and 12th) are filled to the brim with people in seemingly unbreakable ties. In a tie, there is always a random possibility that you nuke someone tied with you instead of actually above or below, and with so many people stuck like that, there is a pretty good chance he just wouldn’t be hit.

Team: NavyCherub
New points: 200142
All points: 2012084
Week 9 watching points:
-----------------------
Gakusen Toshi Asterisk
- Watching: 45659
Haikyuu!! Second Season
- Watching: 41365
Owarimonogatari
- Watching: 27886
Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry
- Watching: 47741
Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru
- Watching: 37491
=> 200142

Owarimonogatari sure is lame in weeks where other parts of its success aren’t counted. Its watching numbers are actually pretty low, at least in comparison to other shows in its relative tier, leaving it below a number of shows it wouldn’t normally be susceptible to. Kind of surprising given that its predecessor Second Season has over 90k completed users – maybe people are just waiting to watch it all when it ends.

Team: Sestrel
New points: 191820
All points: 1974066
Week 9 watching points:
-----------------------
Gakusen Toshi Asterisk
- Watching: 45659
Haikyuu!! Second Season
- Watching: 41365
Owarimonogatari
- Watching: 27886
Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry
- Watching: 47741
Subete ga F ni Naru: The Perfect Insider
- Watching: 29169
=> 191820

See? On these normal weeks, few as they are, rotoscope anime Subete ga F ni Naru: The Perfect Insider holds a small lead over Owarimonogatari. Now if only it had other things going for it, I would personally be in the money, but it didn’t work out the last time I tried that and it probably won’t here, either.

Team: NeoRevan
New points: 190272
All points: 1917385
Week 9 watching points:
-----------------------
Gakusen Toshi Asterisk
- Watching: 45659
K: Return of Kings
- Watching: 31495
Owarimonogatari
- Watching: 27886
Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry
- Watching: 47741
Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru
- Watching: 37491
=> 190272

NeoRevan says:

Watching only week. Not too much to say. So I’ll just leave my work from a few weeks back as a note. My notes will likely just be updates to that in the future unless something spectacular changes.

Watching: Almost(less than 1,000 behind)
Drops: Haikyuu is just dumb
Score: Both better than Insider, but again, Haikyuu is dumb
Favs: Why is Haikyuu so dumb? Again, about 40 more, all cause Haikyuu
Post:(going off all totals, so not a perfect indicator) Mine win out by 3…
(Fun fact, both Haikyuu and K suck for Forum post)

Oh! And happy Thanksgiving, and Merry Christmas!

It seems the despair of being behind Sestrel is not going away, because now the watching points are more than 1000 ahead. Small difference, but everything counts, and when your team’s structure is shaky in its foundations that are counted every week, it’s just not a good sign. Between the mystery shows, though, strange foot anime Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru is a significantly better choice than The Perfect Insider, though.

Team: aeg2138
New points: 179252
All points: 1886628
Week 9 watching points:
-----------------------
Gakusen Toshi Asterisk
- Watching: 45659
Owarimonogatari
- Watching: 27886
Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry
- Watching: 47741
Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru
- Watching: 37491
Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen
- Watching: 20475
=> 179252

Last week, aeg2138 swapped out growth fetish anime Comet Lucifer for fujoshi cast anime Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen. A solid choice at the time – Utawarerumono had a solid 16k point lead over Comet Lucifer. However, what is more interesting now is if it will be worth it in the end, as weeks without drops pass. Comet Lucifer beat Utawarerumono by about 7k this week, almost cutting the gap created last week in half, and it still has next week to potentially pass it overall. I’ll be paying close attention to that detail.

Team: Guycot
New points: 188477
All points: 1866067
Week 9 watching points:
-----------------------
Gakusen Toshi Asterisk
- Watching: 45659
Owarimonogatari
- Watching: 27886
Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry
- Watching: 47741
Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru
- Watching: 37491
Taimadou Gakuen 35 Shiken Shoutai
- Watching: 29700
=> 188477

Speaking of closing gaps, Guycot is doing just that as he chases after the slot he lost from aeg2138 a while back. He is still making more points than aeg2138 – artificial baby anime Taimadou Gakuen 35 Shiken Shoutai is coming into its own more than ever, and even ended up in the top 5 best scoring shows this week (counting Haikyuu!! Second Season and K: Return of Kings as one show given the circumstances).

Screenshot_405

Team: Hamdog92
New points: 182088
All points: 1796137
Week 9 watching points:
-----------------------
Comet Lucifer
- Watching: 27873
Gakusen Toshi Asterisk
- Watching: 45659
Haikyuu!! Second Season
- Watching: 41365
Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru
- Watching: 37491
Taimadou Gakuen 35 Shiken Shoutai
- Watching: 29700
=> 182088

Heck, even Hamdog92 had a better week than aeg2138 since there were no frills to be concerned with, just the bread and butter watching points. Of course, he is much too far behind at this point to actually catch up, especially given how he has Comet Lucifer and not its polar opposite, Owarimonogatari. What’s 100k points between friends?

Team: Aikijou
New points: 118728
All points: 1326021
Week 9 watching points:
-----------------------
Concrete Revolutio: Choujin Gensou
- Watching: 16304
Haikyuu!! Second Season
- Watching: 41365
Subete ga F ni Naru: The Perfect Insider
- Watching: 29169
Young Black Jack
- Watching: 18049
Yuru Yuri San☆Hai!
- Watching: 13841
=> 118728
