New to this? Here’s the intro.
Last week: Week 1

This week’s post is uh, a little late. Again! Won’t be next time, I promise. Gotta get back in the groove of doing these. On the plus side, most of the players commenting didn’t send me their thoughts until today either, so you get some more thoughts from others than you might have otherwise, which is great because no one needs to read me ramble.

All right, on to the rambling then.

Overall ranks Week 2:

  1. 150 (-81) lostpikachu – 397323
  2. 154 (-10) Hamdog92 – 392908
  3. 161 (-14) Guycot – 385604
  4. 187 (-10) NeoRevan – 360838
  5. 214 (-32) draft4fal – 331273
  6. 222 (-8) aeg2138 – 320676
  7. 231 (+6) Necromaster – 314165
  8. 256 (+5) Sestrel – 249062

Individual stats:

Team: lostpikachu

All points: 397323
Week 2 watching points:

Gyakuten Saiban: Sono "Shinjitsu", Igi Ari!

- Watching: 18172
- Watching x2: 18172
Sousei no Onmyouji
- Watching: 35303

Week 2 discussion post points:
------------------------------
Gyakuten Saiban: Sono "Shinjitsu", Igi Ari! (446): 11150
Joker Game (503): 12575
Mayoiga (679): 16975
Seisen Cerberus: Ryuukoku no Fatalités (171): 4275
Sousei no Onmyouji (420): 10500
=> 55475

lostpikachu says:

And so begins my decline.  Unless Cerberus or Joker Game pull some strange late numbers, this might be as far as I go.  I blame you Ace Attorney.

He’s still at the top, but this seems pretty accurate – while most of us dropped places overall this week, lostpikachu dropped an unbelievable amount more than the rest, at a staggering 81 places. We’re all gonna drop plenty since our teams are purposefully far from optimal, but the immediate trend indicates that lostpikachu’s team may have hit its growth ceiling right out of the gate. It’s kind of a trend among this league (and to some extent even the full-on game), but it always sucks for the person who gets hit with first place syndrome.

Netoge no Yome wa Onnanoko ja Nai to Omotta? (401): 10025
Sakamoto desu ga? (398): 9950
=> 56600

Hamdog92 says:

To put it simply: I did better than I feared and worst than I hoped. I outscored lostpikachu by a significant margin and yet Sakamoto’s delay could have long term consequences to its popularity. That said, I also wasn’t able to ace Sakamoto because it maxed 45k this week. It’s bad news that is also good news I suppose.

Everything else that needs to be said has already been said. Thomas and I will be in a tight race and both lostpikachu and NeoRevan could very easily enter that struggle as well.

I guess we’ll see what happens in the coming weeks.

While it sucks for anti-bullying anime Sakamoto desu ga?, I highly doubt its lasting power will be affected by the delay. The only real issue should be this week’s discussion points for that show, which inevitably suffered. However, it’s a small one: that didn’t stop it from being the fourth best show this week, and its discussion should bounce back in week 4 and beyond as the people still talk about the episodes as they naturally would. It also didn’t stop Hamdog92 himself from being at the top of his game – a solid swap from sex bike anime Bakuon!! to broom chafing anime Flying Witch as well as a Joker Game ace before it potentially enters the 45k range keeps him climbing toward the win.

Guycot says:

It sucks to lose 2 potential aces in one go, but the numbers are great. I was still able to ace this week so I got those sweet points. I’m not exactly sure what the next week will bring but I hope Twin Star will cap out.

I wouldn’t worry too much about not being able to ace a show because it reached such high watching numbers so early – you’re making bank. Also, if shark boy and lava girl anime Sousei no Onmyouji breaks 45k I will declare this the season everyone watched every anime. Seriously, it has never been so easy for shows to reach numbers like that, and if the mid-00’s shounen action show can do it, anything can.

NeoRevan says:

I did well enough I suppose. Didn’t change positions, but I fell the least(of those who dropped) so I hope that bodes well. Kiznaiver is annoying me though. It just started and is already comparable to Reply:0 in Watching, even if it is losing big on Forums(yay for a good mystery/Thriller) and Score(I have no idea, but since I have it, I’m not complaining). Ace Attorney is going to be the anchor on my team, either that or Hundred. Hundred has less watching, but also significantly less drops(since people know what they are getting into I suppose) while Ace Attorney…well, last I check it was getting close to 2K in drops, and it’s only just started. My only real alternative right now is Ushio and Tora with its horrible week to week watching, pretty good score, and sub 100 drops… Which is not optimal. I got some thinking to do, but I think I can survive the first week of drops at least. Guess I’ll find out.

Fun fact: NeoRevan’s two bench shows (memory loss anime Ushio and Tora, various hues anime Sansha Sanyou) were only twenty points away from each other in their gained points this week! I feel especially bad for the theoretical future season of Fantasy Anime League when Sansha Sanyou‘s sequel comes out. As for how well they replace his shows in the future, I’m not seeing good things in the crystal ball, as with numbers that low even dead sister anime Ace Attorney‘s drop weeks probably wouldn’t justify the loss of points literally everywhere else. Good thing he has Re:Zero!

Sakamoto desu ga? (398): 9950

It’s super feel-bad that blonde waifu anime Kuma Miko is doing worse than Bakuon!!. It’s even worse feel-bad that Cerberus is only doing the very minimum better than Kuma Miko without its 2x, which is really fragile. I might swap it in, but I won’t be happy about it. Not that it makes too much of a difference as things stand – I am technically doing worse than aeg2138, after all, which doesn’t look good. All around an ominous week for me.

Big Order finally aired this week and so licenseless rider anime Macross gets the deserved boot from aeg2138’s team. It’s hard to say how it will turn out, since it just aired, and discussion isn’t exactly roaring out the gate. However, Future Diary was pretty popular, it is pretty safe to assume it will beat Macross in the long run. As for his overall team, aeg2138 is threatened a bit by Necromaster below him who has a very similar (but better in important ways) team, but he still has a good upcoming swap with Flying Witch which can comfortably replace basically either Kuma Miko or Kuromukuro, whichever does worse.

Just like aeg2138, teenage angst anime Big Order replacing Macross is good news for Necromaster’s future. Without a decent replacement, Macross keeps anyone with it active from really being able to keep their head above the water. Re:Zero is really what’s doing the most work here though – just like most teams that have it, its unbelievable amount of discussion points keeps the unstoppable train running.

Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge (231): 5775
=> 41400

Closing out the trifecta of people-who-are-banking-on-Big-Order is Sestrel, who needs Big Order more than anyone else right now as she stands with the only team without a 45k show. It looks pretty dire, but not all is hopeless, as along with Big Order’s potentially large misanthropic audience, doujin fodder anime Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge is actually doing really well for itself thanks to its really good 2x score. No one will be talking about it, since there isn’t really much to talk about, but its watching numbers at the very least will be steady and reliable.

ss+(2016-04-21+at+09.56.34)

And that’s your week. Next week is another week, in which more points will be gained, weekly:

+3000*((un)weighted score) points for score ratings on MAL upon week 3.

Which shows do people actually like? Could it be that they like the shows they talk about? Say it isn’t so, Re:Zero! All this and more, or maybe less, next time. See ya.
